Contract: Full-Time, Temp to Perm Opportunity
Start Date: ASAPA mainstream secondary school in Runcorn is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team. This is a full-time role with the opportunity to move from a temporary to a permanent contract for the right candidate.The HLTA will work closely with teaching staff to support students with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The role will involve providing in-class support, delivering targeted interventions, and guiding students to achieve their academic and personal goals.Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with SEND across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Deliver small group and 1:1 interventions, tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers to plan, prepare, and deliver lessons or activities.
  • Provide guidance, encouragement, and pastoral support to help students engage in learning.
  • Adapt support strategies as needed to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Contribute to creating an inclusive, positive, and safe learning environment.
Qualities and Experience Required:
  • HLTA status or substantial relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience of supporting students with SEND in a school setting.
  • Strong ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
  • Confidence in leading small groups and delivering planned interventions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working effectively with staff, students, and parents/carers.
  • A calm, patient, and supportive approach to managing challenges.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and guide students to achieve their best.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to use initiative.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
