Multi-Skills Training Assistant – Construction TradesAre you practical, organised, and passionate about supporting learners in construction skills? We are seeking a Multi-Skills Training Assistant, internally referred to as a Multi Skills Technician, to support the delivery of vocational training in trades such as plastering, painting and decorating, tiling, and dry lining within a prison workshop environment.You’ll work closely with the Multi-Skills Trainer to maintain a safe, well-equipped, and engaging learning environment, helping learners develop essential trade skills while ensuring compliance with prison safety and security protocols.Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain workshop spaces, ensuring tools, materials, and equipment are ready for lessons.
  • Assist with practical activities and demonstrations aligned to City & Guilds Level 2 standards.
  • Manage tool inventories and equipment maintenance, ensuring safety and security at all times.
  • Support learners during practical tasks, providing guidance and encouragement.
  • Promote a safe and restorative workshop culture focused on skill development and learner engagement.
  • Help maintain accurate records of attendance, tool usage, and learner progress.
  • Collaborate with the trainer and prison staff to ensure smooth delivery of sessions.
We are looking for someone with:
  • Experience in construction trades (plastering, painting, tiling, dry lining) at Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Practical knowledge of health and safety and workshop tool management.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to support learners with diverse needs.
  • An understanding of vocational education or a willingness to develop in this area.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail for record-keeping and workshop prep.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping others succeed.
