The company designs, manufacturers and qualifies batteries for international space missions on satellites, launchers, and interplanetary vehicles. The company’s customers include both national and international space agencies like NASA and European Space Agency as well as working across the commercial market supporting missions that include Earth observation, internet of things satellite constellations and global positioning systems. The position is based in the Culham Science Centre near Abingdon in Oxfordshire and is a job that can truly impact people across the globe.We are looking for a proactive and analytical Financial Controller. This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in controlling and a passion for continuous improvement. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for controlling and financial reporting activities, including month-end closing under US GAAP, forecasting and budgeting. You will also be responsible for Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting to provide timely financial insights to facilitate business growth.Financial Controller will also play a vital role in ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and SOX. The role requires effective interaction with several internal and external stakeholders including the audit function for a timely financial statements submissions.The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capabilities with excellent communication skills and is eager to grow in a dynamic, international environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review the company’s monthly Actual group management accounts.
  • Lead the preparation process for the company’s annual budget and monthly forecasts.
  • Provide the site General Manager with financial oversight of the business.
  • Work with the site General Manager and business departments to properly track and account for POC contracts.
  • Manage and coordinate the delivery of financial management and support for RFQs, bids and tenders, and project costs and financials.
  • Prepare high-quality financial statements in compliance with statutory regulations.
  • Ensure comprehensive audit documentation and manage the cooperation with auditors to enable timely submission of financial statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax computations and returns, VAT, R&D Tax and payroll on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis as required.
  • Supervise the internal control processes within the finance function.
  • Supervise and set credit limits for customers, including D&B checks and the interface with Group credit controllers & manage the process of monitoring and collecting receivables.
  • Manage a team of two direct reports, including goal settings, performance assessment and training.
Qualifications & Skills required
  • University Degree in Finance and Accounting
  • 4+ years of experience in Finance/Controlling
  • Knowledge of IFRS/US GAAP
  • Knowledge of Percentage of Completion accounting
  • Strong knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting processes
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Fluent in English
  • BIG 4 audit background is an asset
