This challenging role includes all aspects of Manufacturing Engineering. Key responsibilities include the following:RESPONSIBILITIES * Manage, Commission and set up new / additional equipment identified through the CI process.
  • Continually look to improve the process performance with regard to safety, quality, cost, availability and cycle time.
  • Ensure the equipment meets and maintains the EH+S safety requirements through risk assessments and Impacts/Aspects analysis.
  • Proactively react to line performance issues to deliver the key plant metrics.
  • Use of Six Sigma and related CI improvement techniques to achieve Zero Defect manufacturing and Error Cause Removal.
  • Manage across departments and external suppliers to deliver the projects on-time, in budget and to specification.
  • Daily monitor the performance of the equipment.
  • Liaise with the Maintenance team to provide in production and "later year" equipment support
  • Determine the PM and spare parts requirements plus the capture of any lesson learnt additions to the PM procedure.
  • Support the Quality function, QRCM team, Plant Reviews and warranty RCCA team within the allocated portfolio.
  • There will be a need within the role to support NPI functions.
  • Support other areas of the plant upon request.
KEY DELIVERABLES
  • Ensuring that the Assembly and Sub-Assembly process equipment runs at minimum efficiency of 85% OEE, whilst manufacturing assemblies at world class quality levels.
  • Achievement or better than benchmark performance against key responsibilities
  • Experience with automation and controls engineering is preferred.
  • Specific knowledge of PLC / Equipment programming and diagnostic would be a distinct advantage.
  • Must demonstrate reliability, initiative and desire to learn.
  • Demonstrable ability to create and implement detailed and effective action plans.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills along with strong attention to detail, flexibility and prioritization
  • Ability to manage and execute multiple large-scale projects simultaneously, dynamically adjusting priorities to meet changing business needs
  • For new Developed/ Implemented equipment support the Development of maintenance schedules.
  • When required due to critical requirement - assistance with machine breakdowns.
  • HSE assessments (i.e., Risk, Ergonomic and COSHH)
  • New product, process and equipment introduction and validation.
  • Training and Development of, and as required and appropriate - operators and other technical support staff.
  • Evaluation of Equipment capacities / capabilities against forecast product volumes.
Experience & Qualifications
  • HND /Degree level in Mechanical, Automation, and /or Electrical/Electronic engineering as a minimum qualification.
  • Five years minimum experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Exemplary track record of high impact contributions as an individual engineer.
  • Proven knowledge of high-volume electronics manufacturing processes, assembly tools and inspection techniques for electronic assembly.
  • Capital equipment specification, procurement and business case preparation.
  • Understanding and implementation of DFM/DFA, FMEA.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma Manufacturing and works study principles.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt would be preferred.
