Our client, A Large public sector organisation, based in the Belfast International Airport area is looking for 4 Agriculture Inspectors to join their team.Duration: Initially expected to last for 6 months with an option to extendRate of pay: £17.92Weekend pay rate: Sat is £25.36 and Sun £32.80The rates above are SDA 20% ( Shift Disturbance allowance )Location: Belfast International AirportHours: Full Time Shift work consisting of Early Lates and night shifts. Times provided belowAn example of working times is as follows:
Early Shift: 07:00-15:00 to include a 60 minute handover
Late Shift: 14:00 – 22:00 to include a 60 minute handoverNight shift 20.00 – 8.00 in include 60 min handoverShift patterns may be subject to change, determined by business needs.Main Duties Include:
  • Carrying out checks on passengers’ baggage at airports in order to identify consignments which are in contravention of import legislation. This involves questioning arriving passengers and searching passengers’ baggage.
  • Carrying out checks on airline freight. This involves checking documents and inspecting consignments.
  • Carrying out checks on parcels/packages at courier/mail warehouses in order to identify consignments which are in contravention of import legislation. This involves identifying parcels, opening and searching them and removing non-compliant consignments.
  • Carrying out health checks on pets moving through airports into Northern Ireland.
The inspector Group 1 will seize non-compliant consignments and will serve official notices.Essential Criteria:Applicants must, by the closing date for applications have:
1. At least 2 GCSE/GCE “O” levels at Grade C (English and Mathematics)AND
2. A Level 3 Work-based Diploma in Agriculture.OR
(ii) A BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Agriculture.3. At least 3 months’ experience gained within the last 5 years of working with livestock.4. A full valid UK driving licence continuously held for the last 3 years
“Livestock is defined as being agricultural animals, the main species being cattle, sheep, pigs, goats and poultry”.
  • Example of equivalent qualification to English and Mathematics GCSE/GCE would be Essential Skills 2.
** Examples of equivalent qualifications is a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) at Level 3 in Livestock or Crop Production or a BTEC National Diploma in Agriculture or a College Diploma in Agriculture or an Advanced Diploma in
