Teaching Assistant – Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)Location: Chesham, Buckinghamshire
Full-Time or Part-Time | Start Date: September 2025Are you looking to make a real difference in a supportive and inclusive school environment? A highly regarded school in Chesham is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) starting this September.This school is known for its nurturing ethos, inclusive values, and commitment to helping every child achieve their potential, regardless of the challenges they face. They are looking for a compassionate and skilled support professional, ideally with experience or qualifications in moving and handling, to join their team.Key Support Areas:
  • Helping students understand instructions and task requirements
  • Supporting the development of sequencing skills (e.g., following a recipe or experiment)
  • Assisting with personal organisation and memory retention
  • Encouraging positive social interactions and self-esteem
  • Providing tailored support in literacy, numeracy, and conceptual understanding
Role Responsibilities:
  • Delivering targeted support in reading, writing, and numeracy
  • Creating a positive learning atmosphere for students
  • Assisting with managing challenging behaviour alongside the class teacher
  • Collaborating on lesson planning and activity delivery
  • Monitoring and recording student progress
  • Providing 1:1 or small group tutoring
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Previous experience working with SEN students or a strong desire to do so
  • Solid understanding of Special Educational Needs and a passion for development
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour with empathy and consistency
  • Commitment to fixed working days (full or part-time)
  • Holds a valid DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one
  • Has relevant training or qualifications to support learners with MLD
