As an Elective Home Education Officer, you will discharge the Local Authority’s statutory duty to ensure all children receive an education in line with current legislation, specifically the Education Act 1996 section 444. Manage a caseload, working within a multi-agency team to support the Local Authority's duty by ensuring every child receives a suitable education. You will use a whole family, strengths-based approach to reduce risks, increasing resilience and improving outcomes for children. Lead and participate in multi-agency meetings that bolster family outcomes and improve school attendance. Deliver a high-performing targeted service that aligns with DfE and local guidelines, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policy, and guidance in challenging circumstances.What you will do:
- Lead multi-agency meetings to support and improve child and family educational outcomes.
- Manage a caseload effectively within a team focused on targeted services.
- Support children’s education in line with legal requirements, maintaining a knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Engage with families to identify and mitigate risks impacting children's education.
- Work collaboratively with schools, attendance staff, and other agencies to enhance education welfare services.
- Deliver services with sensitivity and in compliance with regulations, addressing issues such as non-attendance and safeguarding.Requirements:
- A good standard of education to A level or equivalent, with Maths and English at GCSE Grade A-C.
- Willingness to undertake training in Child Protection, Data Protection, and Freedom of Information Legislation.
- Knowledge of Education Acts, legal framework regarding school attendance, and provision of alternative education.
- Understanding of issues such as safeguarding, barriers to engagement, and family dynamics.
