- Responsible for the financial management of a major, complex project(s) or a number of projects from inception, tendering, negotiating and agreeing contracts and then commercially delivering Projects often worth many tens of millions of pounds.
- Manage costs in relation to infrastructure projects with experience of identifying commercial risks and opportunities in respect of their works
- Deliver varied commercial duties including responsibility for procuring and managing supply chain
- Optimise commercial performance through diligent cost control and value for money opportunities, whilst achieving the required standards and quality for our customers
- Create and maintain commercial relationships to both internal and external stakeholders
- Contract administration with both client and subcontractors
- Provide support and adherence for the Gated Business Lifecycle process
- Mentor and develop junior members of the team
- Proactively drive career and personal development, including professional certification
- Lead on collating costs and maximising value on a large project in particular managing the Design works within the HS2 project.
- Preparation of Estimates & Tender submissions including the interpretation of specifications & preambles
- Manage the preparation of Target Cost for a Project, including the associated risks
- Support the review of tenders, including estimates, cost data and contract reviews
- Provide commercial input to value engineering reviews
- Establish client supply chain requirements & advise on alternative forms of contract & procurement arrangements.
- Manage the preparation of the monthly CVR and associated commercial reports
- Present commercial progress to senior divisional staff
- Application of legislation and ability to liaise with legal expert
- An organised, innovative and creative Senior Quantity Surveyor with in-depth knowledge and experience of working on Projects and Portfolio's.
- Proven skills in commercial awareness, client liaison, project management and team leadership. Extensive understanding of the construction industry, flexibility, and a talent for negotiation.
- Leading on and embedding a mindset within the team of financial and commercial control within a project(s).
- Demonstration of Strategic Change Management
- Proactively develop, mentor and coach immediate and wider team members to
- Demonstration of working to deadlines including effective delegation, working
- Excellent communication skills with all internal and external stakeholders
- Keen interest and experience in infrastructure projects
- Demonstration of resilience and determination to succeed (achievement focus)
- Proactively manage opportunities, risks and threats
- Experience working on NEC Contracts
- Chartered Member or Fellow of the RICS, ICES or CIOB is preferred but not essential
