- Develop and oversee the implementation of the school's SEND strategy and policies.
- Lead on the identification, assessment, and support for students with SEND, ensuring their needs are met in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
- Work collaboratively with the Headteacher, teaching staff, parents, external agencies, and the wider Aurora Group network to ensure a cohesive and effective approach to SEND.
- Provide professional guidance, support, and training to staff on SEND matters to ensure high-quality inclusive teaching.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress and impact of SEND provision, adapting strategies as necessary to ensure continuous improvement.
- Champion a culture of high expectations and inclusion for all students.
- Manage and deploy SEND resources effectively, including a team of support staff where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate SEND records and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
- Contribute to the overall leadership and development of this exciting new school.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO), or a willingness to complete it.
- Proven experience as an effective SENCO, ideally with experience in a specialist setting or with a strong understanding of diverse learning needs.
- In-depth knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
- Demonstrable experience in leading, managing, and motivating a team.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
