- Perform line management duties for direct reports, including appraisals, managing holidays, sickness and overall performance.
- Support design management and senior stakeholders in continuous process improvement activities, contributing to the development and implementation of best practices.
- Ensure that all engineering activities adhere to company standards & procedures, with a focus on engineering standards, documentation completeness and machinery safety protocols.
- Take ownership of software engineering process due diligence for assigned projects, ensuring the timely delivery of all project milestones.
- Drive project completion with focus on budgets and milestones
- Review project deliverables for completeness and alignment with project requirements, ensuring they meet quality standards in line with Mpac procedures
- Liaise with project leads to ensure that the project schedule aligns with deliverables from other functions ( specifications for electrical and mechanical engineers)
- Monitor project progress, providing regular updates to the project managers and design management on estimated time to completion, project risks and resource needs.
- Escalate any project or people issues to the design management to ensure timely intervention and resolution,
- Clear & concise project progress reports, including updates on the ETC, milestone delivery and resource allocation
- High quality project deliverables, in alignment with project scope, schedule and company standards.
- Adherence to engineering processes and procedures, with active enforcement across the team.
- Timely escalation of risks or issues to the design management ensuring proactive problem resolution.
- Successful management and development of team members, with regular feedback, appraisals and mentoring sessions.
- proven experience leading or managing controls engineering teams within an industrial or automation environment
- Solid background in software project lifecycle management, including planning, execution and delivery
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, standards and machinery safety protocols
- Demonstrated ability to deliver software projects on time, within budget and to a high standard of quality
- Experience working collaboratively in multi disciplinary teams ( electrical, mechanical, project management)
- Track record of process adherence and enforcing documentation and quality standards.
- strong problem solving, risk management and decision making abilities in a fast paced project environment
- Hands on experience producing and reviewing technical documentation such as software design specifications, function design specifications and test documentation
- Proficiency in software development for industrial automation or machinery ( Programming, HMI design, motion control systems)
- Familiarity with common industrial software platforms (Siemens, Rockwell, Beckhoff & Mitsubishi)
- Understanding of relevant safety and compliance standards ( IEC, ISO & CE marking)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, mentor and manage a team effectively.
- skilled in creating and maintaining accurate technical documentation to support compliance, traceability and knowledge sharing across the team.
