Test & Validation Engineer
Location: Peterborough PE1
Salary: £26.05 p/h PAYE / £35.00 p/h Umbrella (inside IR35)
Term: 12 Month contract likely to extendThe role: As a proving test and validation engineer working on global engine development, involved in a variety of engine installation and test projects into off-highway machines and generator sets. Primarily covering mechanical and electrical engine to machine integration, shakedown and test.Duties/Responsibilities may include:
  • Adhere to the Organisations health and safety policy and safe working practices.
  • Effectively manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Operate a multitude of different off-highway vehicles including but not limited to, Hydraulic Excavators, Back-hoe Loaders, Telehandlers, Track Type Tractors.
  • Diagnose and fix a range of faults on both engine and machine.
  • Work from engineering drawings (electrical, mechanical and hydraulic)
  • Produce electrical looms to interface engine and machine.
  • Travel to various off site test and development facilities (some overseas).
  • Keep in line with 5S and total preventative maintenance (TPM)
  • Keep the work area clean, tidy and safe
Skills, experience & qualifications:
  • Engineering qualification preferably electrical or mechanical
  • Effectively communication skills with team members, customers, and suppliers.
  • High level of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical/electronic aptitude
  • Good working knowledge of engines and machines.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and its application.
  • Have a fully flexible approach to the job role & responsibilities.
  • Good PC skills, ability to use Microsoft Office and designed software.
Desirable skills and experience:
  • Previous experience in use of CANape
  • Good machine/engine hydraulic, electrical, mechanical and diagnostic/problem solving skills.
