The Highway Maintenance Officer's main goal is to oversee and manage highway maintenance works. This role ensures the highway network is managed and maintained to a safe standard for our communities. By implementing reactive, preventative, and cyclical maintenance schemes, you will help manage Cambridgeshire’s highway network, including footways, cycle routes, carriageways, and public rights of way. This role involves working closely with local communities to maintain the highway in line with local aspirations, ensuring high levels of satisfaction by keeping communities and customers informed about our works.What you will do:
- Oversee highway maintenance projects from inception to completion, ensuring quality standards are met.
- Implement reactive and preventative maintenance to keep highways safe and efficient.
- Coordinate with local communities and stakeholders to align projects with community needs.
- Ensure compliance with relevant highway legislation, such as the Highways Act 1980.
- Regularly inspect the highway network to identify areas in need of maintenance or repair.
- Collaborate with contractors and suppliers to execute maintenance projects effectively.Requirements:
- A Levels or NVQ Level 3, or equivalent, required.
- HND or equivalent qualification.
- In-depth understanding of local government structures, pressures, and priorities.
- Strong knowledge of highway design, construction, maintenance, and drainage.
- Familiarity with relevant highway legislation.
- Experience in the highway or construction sectors.
