AtkinsRéalis, Balfour Beatty and Egis Road Operations UK are part of a consortium, creating Connect Plus Services, a unique partnership with a collective strength in highways asset care from finance, through to design, build, maintenance as well as day to day operation. As part of our 30-year remit to manage and improve the capital’s orbital motorway network, we deliver major improvement projects, such as widening 38 miles of the M25, refurbishing tunnels and bridges, and installing hundreds of variable messaging signs and gantries, helping to maximise the use of the network and deliver more reliable journeys.Role:We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated individual with a project background to join this fast-paced team to deliver the highways and technology schemes in the portfolio. Projects delivery will include the whole project lifecycle from feasibility through to handover. Schemes range in value from £100k to £3m+ and include safety schemes, environmental improvements, technology schemes, remedial works and structure schemes mainly funded by National Highways.Your purpose:
  • Supports and leads strong collaborative relationships with the project management team, and key internal and external stakeholders, to ensure full mutual understanding of the projects’ delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with the DBFO contract clarifying roles and responsibilities within your team, resolving risks and issues in a timely manner, producing timely and accurate reports, and creating and maintaining specified records including change management.
  • Liaise and manage the Design, agree and implement project plans, to ensure that all activities are appropriately organised to deliver project objectives, are appropriately resourced to deliver the required outcomes.
  • Lead projects throughout their whole lifecycle through feasibility, design, and construction informing investment proposals for our clients.
  • Develop robust cost profiles identifying key risks and quantifying resource requirement. Commercial management of the project to include but not limited to cost plan, supply chain quotations, review and approval of invoices, forecasting, review of applications with the commercial team.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging risks, issues, dependencies and constraints associated with the project, escalating where appropriate. Where necessary develop, agree and implement solutions to overcome these.
  • Support the performance of Framework Contractors and Designers as appropriate, ensuring that project objectives and requirements are clearly understood, setting clear expectations for health and safety management, time and cost; and taking appropriate remedial action where necessary.
  • Support the delivery of the business’ sustainability activities including net zero and biodiversity net gain.
  • Work closely with the Construction/Supervisor team to ensure permits, certificates and site reporting are managed correctly and align to project needs.
  • Management of the P6 programme with the planning team, including identification of critical path activities.

What you can bring:
  • Project Management Experience preferably supported by recognised Project Management qualification, APM PMQ, PRINCE2, APMP etc.
  • Preference of minimum degree qualification and membership of appropriate professional institution or working towards such qualification.
  • Broad skills, knowledge and understanding of Highway or Structures Engineering and associated design areas.
  • Knowledge of CDM and other H&S and Environmental legislation related to Highway Engineering.
  • Knowledge of the NEC (New Engineering Contract) and other relevant forms of contract.
