Prospect Bank School is a school in the Leith area of Edinburgh for children with additional support needs. Prospect Bank caters for primary age learners with complex, long term additional support needs where the presumption of mainstream cannot be met. The needs of learners are primarily associated with learning disability and Autism Spectrum Disorder.At Prospect Bank we have 6 classes, each class has a class teacher and support staff. Ratios of adults to children may vary as children develop their needs. We work in partnership with a range of professionals including Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychologists, CAMHS, Community Child Health and Dental Services.We follow a Curriculum for Excellence and provide a wide range of learning experiences for our learners to help enable them to reach their full potential. We also have a focus on supporting our children with developing their social communication and emotional regulation through the SCERTS Model. We value joint working with parents, carers, extended family and local community including links with mainstream schools. We pride ourselves on our positive school ethos where we celebrate every individual's success and we place a strong emphasis on a whole team approach to meeting the needs of our learners.We are looking for conscientious, committed candidates with excellent inter-personal and communication skills. Sessional staff are paid for the total number of weeks they work each year (39) plus the number of weeks' leave they are entitled to, which depends on length of service.PSWs do not work during the 12 weeks of school holidays, however total salary is paid in 12 equal monthly payments, over the year. There are also opportunities to work in a holiday hub provision during the school holidays for successful candidates looking to work during the school holidays.Please note that these posts are subject to review and also have a mobility clause meaning there is a chance successful candidates could be moved to a different school in the future.This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check.
