Job descriptionSpecial School Support Assistant – BrightonProspero Teaching is seeking compassionate and dedicated Special School Support Assistants to join our client specialist SEN school in Brighton this September.This nurturing school caters to primary-aged children with autism, speech and language needs, and broader communication challenges. As a support assistant, you’ll play a vital role in helping students flourish through personalised attention-whether in small groups or one-on-one sessions-using tools like Makaton, PECS, and visual resources to support their learning and confidence.What You’ll Be Doing:Supporting children’s development through tailored learning activitiesEncouraging social skills, independence, and confidence in a warm, inclusive environmentHelping establish calm, structured routines to enhance focus and well-beingWorking closely with teachers to co-deliver creative, engaging lessons for SEN pupilsMonitoring progress and contributing to assessments to support each child’s journeyProviding additional assistance to ensure every child feels seen, supported, and valuedSupporting personal care routines with dignity and sensitivityPromoting safeguarding and confidentiality at all timesAbout You:We’d love to hear from you if you:Have experience supporting SEN pupils in a school setting (primary preferred)Are committed to child welfare, with a proactive safeguarding approachBring patience, enthusiasm, and a warm sense of humour to your workUnderstand SEN needs, child development, and communication tools like Makaton or PECSAre a team player with strong communication skillsHold good literacy, numeracy, and IT skillsJob Details:Location: BrightonRole: Special School Support AssistantStart: September 2025Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 AM – 15:30 PM (part-time considered)Pay: From £13.96 per hourAdditional Information: Prospero Teaching is an education recruitment agency working in relation to this vacancy.
