- Acting as an Approved Mental Health Professional, undertaking statutory duties under the Mental Health Act 1983, including coordinating and conducting assessments for detention.
- Responding to urgent child protection referrals, conducting Section 47 enquiries, and implementing immediate safeguarding plans to ensure children's safety.
- Providing an emergency response service to vulnerable adults with care and support needs, including safeguarding enquiries under the Care Act 2014.
- Undertaking crisis assessments and interventions for individuals, families, and carers in acute distress.
- Working collaboratively with a range of partner agencies, including police, health services, and housing, to provide a coordinated emergency response.
- Making high-stakes, autonomous decisions in high-pressure situations, often with limited information.
- Providing advice, support, and consultation to other professionals and agencies on social care matters.
- Maintaining precise and comprehensive records of all interventions and decisions made during your shift in line with legal and council requirements.
- You must be a Qualified Social Worker and a practicing, warranted Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP).
- Current registration with Social Care England is essential.
- An updated and clear Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required.
- Demonstrable post-qualifying experience in a statutory Child Protection (CP) team is required.
- Proven ability to work effectively and make sound decisions in a crisis-led, out-of-hours environment.
- A thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the Mental Health Act, the Children Act, the Care Act, and associated codes of practice.
