An exciting opportunity has become available for a Trainee Gardener / Groundsperson to join a small team on a horticulturally diverse and aesthetically beautiful private garden South of Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire.Whilst training is provided for the role, candidates should be able to demonstrate a genuine commitment to building a career in amenity horticulture. A background in gardening—whether through work on private estates, volunteering, or paid employment—would be advantageous. However, full on-the-job training will be provided, with support and guidance from the Estate Manager.The garden is approximately 10 acres and include extensive lawns, beds and borders, hedges, topiary, Japanese garden, woodland garden and a small kitchen garden. Together, these elements create a dynamic and immersive garden that requires year-round management and attention to detail.The role will be working closely with the estate manager four days per week which will entail all rounded gardening and grounds management including lawncare, hedge cutting, managing composting sites, using a telehandler, weeding, strimming, using and maintaining garden machinery, as well as maintaining the swimming pool, terraces and patios. Practical training will be provided on the job and horticultural tickets such as chainsaw and spray certificates will be supported by the employer. The fifth day will be spent with a part time horticulturalist focusing on pruning and managing the bed and borders.Working hours are Tuesday to Saturday – 40 hours per week with one hour for lunch. Due to the location of the property, a driving licence is required and own vehicle.
