SEND Teaching Assistant - Cheltenham
Location: Cheltenham and surrounding areas
Contract: Flexible supply - Day-to-day and long-term cover
Pay: £90-100 per day (including holiday pay)
Start Date: SeptemberAre you passionate about supporting children with additional needs? Five Education is seeking adaptable and empathetic SEND Teaching Assistants to work across a range of mainstream primary schools in Cheltenham, providing support to children with Special Educational Needs.We have both day-to-day and long-term supply opportunities, making this ideal for those looking for flexible work or long-term placements. Many roles involve 1:1 support or small group work for children with needs such as Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language difficulties, or SEMH challenges.Responsibilities:
  • Provide in-class support to children with SEND, helping them access the curriculum
  • Deliver targeted interventions or structured learning tasks
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment to support emotional regulation and social skills
  • Work under the guidance of the class teacher and SENDCo
  • Support with EHCP targets and differentiated learning
You'll need to have:
  • Experience supporting children with SEND in an education or care setting
  • Confidence working with a range of needs, including Autism, SEMH, ADHD, or speech and language delays
  • A proactive, calm and empathetic approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexibility and a willingness to work in a variety of settings
Desirable but not essential:
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE, TA Level 2/3)
  • Experience with communication tools such as Makaton or PECS
  • Team Teach or other behaviour management training
