Five Education is seeking adaptable and empathetic SEND Teaching Assistants to work across a range of mainstream primary schools in Cheltenham, providing support to children with Special Educational Needs.We have both day-to-day and long-term supply opportunities, making this ideal for those looking for flexible work or long-term placements. Many roles involve 1:1 support or small group work for children with needs such as Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language difficulties, or SEMH challenges.Responsibilities:
- Provide in-class support to children with SEND, helping them access the curriculum
- Deliver targeted interventions or structured learning tasks
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment to support emotional regulation and social skills
- Work under the guidance of the class teacher and SENDCo
- Support with EHCP targets and differentiated learning
- Experience supporting children with SEND in an education or care setting
- Confidence working with a range of needs, including Autism, SEMH, ADHD, or speech and language delays
- A proactive, calm and empathetic approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility and a willingness to work in a variety of settings
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE, TA Level 2/3)
- Experience with communication tools such as Makaton or PECS
- Team Teach or other behaviour management training
We're working with a training provider offering a fully funded Level 2 Teaching Assistant course. This 4-week course gives you the knowledge and skills needed to work in schools and is ideal for developing a deeper understanding of SEND provision. On completion, you'll gain:
