Would you like an opportunity to support the development and delivery of Birkbeck's Education and Student Experience strategy?Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a Quality Manager (Assurance & Enhancement) to manage, develop and implement the University's quality assurance and enhancement framework.This new role is based within an expanding Quality Team within Academic Standards & Quality (part of the new ) and you will work closely with academic and professional service colleagues across Birkbeck to support and deliver a wide range of key quality assurance activities and projects.This role is offered on a full-time, permanent contract with a salary of £44,274 rising to £50,379 per year, and you'll be expected on site in the office for at least two days a week.As the Quality Manager (Assurance and Enhancement), you will:
  • Manage and develop Birkbeck's current academic quality assurance framework, including module and programme approval & amendment, periodic reviews and quality monitoring, and the management of external examiners and other external subject specialists.
  • Support the maintenance of academic regulatory, policy and governance arrangements, including undertaking regulatory & policy review and acting as secretary to committees and sub-committees as determined by the Head of Academic Standards and Quality.
  • Provide advice and guidance on quality assurance systems and processes so they operate effectively and efficiently.
  • Provide regular updates and develop and deliver training to staff across the institution in matters pertaining to academic quality & standards.
To be successful in the role of Quality Manager (Assurance and Enhancement) you will:
  • Have experience in managing quality assurance and enhancement in higher education, particularly data-driven approaches to quality.
  • Have the ability to manage complex workloads, working with staff at all levels to ensure centrally agreed policy is implemented & adopted fairly and consistently across all faculties and schools.
  • Have excellent oral and written skills with the ability to produce clear policies, procedures reports and presentations and convey complex information with confidence.
  • Be proactive in identifying areas for development & enhancement.
  • Be comfortable working with and advising staff at all levels across the institution.
