- Acting as a first point of contact for routine procedures
- Freeing up GPs and nurses to focus on more complex cases
- Helping maintain continuity and a friendly face for regular patients
Employment Type: Part-time (3 days per week, with potential for flexibility)
Reports To: Practice Manager / Lead GPAbout the Role
We’re seeking a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to support the clinical and operational functions of a busy GP surgery. The ideal candidate will bring warmth, efficiency, and clinical competence to ensure exceptional care and continuity for our patients.Key Responsibilities
- Perform phlebotomy and assist with routine diagnostic procedures (e.g., ECGs, 24-hour blood pressure monitoring)
- Conduct new patient health checks and NHS Health Checks
- Support chronic disease reviews, including SMI, LD, and diabetic checks
- Administer B12 injections and support vaccination programmes (under PGD or direction)
- Deliver wound care: dressings, suture removal, and general monitoring
- Promote lifestyle changes such as smoking cessation and healthy weight programmes
- Maintain and prepare clinical areas, manage stock control and equipment restocking
- Assist with data entry, coding, and updates to patient records on clinical systems
- Experience in primary care or similar clinical setting
- Phlebotomy trained (essential)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence in using patient record systems (e.g., EMIS/Web)
- A calm, professional approach under pressure
- Commitment to confidentiality, safeguarding, and best practice
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care
- BLS and anaphylaxis training
- Experience supporting long-term condition management
This role is part-time, requiring availability for 3 days per week . Flexibility around working days may be available to suit both the surgery and the candidate.Why Join Us?
