– Engage in the effective application of resources to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and their families.
– Execute all functions allocated by the Team Manager, working effectively with children, young people, their families, and carers.
– Maintain high-quality professional social work knowledge and skills.
– Handle a diverse caseload, including assessments, reviews, report preparation, and court attendance.
– Provide support and advice creatively, in line with the principles of the 1989 Children’s Act.
– Perform quality assessments of individuals and families; analyse strengths and risks.
– Formulate plans to meet assessed needs and risks while building on the strengths of children, families, and carers.
– Implement agreed-upon plans to safeguard children and increase their parents’ and/or carers’ capacity and resilience.
– Respond to crises during office duty as required.
– Assist in developing existing services and shaping future services for families and carers.
– Contribute to team development by working collaboratively.
– Supervise students when appropriate.
– Foster effective working relationships with foster carers and partner agencies.
– Develop your professional skills through supervision and training.
– Keep abreast of changes in legislation, policy, and practice, and apply them within your professional framework.
– Maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
– Adapt to tasks not specifically covered in the job description as the need arises.
– Ensure safe working practices for yourself and others, in line with Health and Safety policies.
