Location: Various locations throughout the boroughThis is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Family and Friends Team.We pay an attractive salary of £36,648 - £39,186, plus a Market Supplement of £3,383 per annum, which will be paid in 12 monthly instalments, and offer access to training and development opportunities.Caerphilly developed a Family and Friends Team in 2020 with the aim of reducing CLA numbers and improvising support for Special Guardians. The Family and Friends Team manage those children who are subject to PCCP, Kinship Fostering arrangements, Supervision Orders and children on Special Guardianship Orders and therefore is a team that provides long term support to families.You will be responsible for assessing and reviewing the support needs of both the children and their parents/carers. You will be required to attend court to ensure the most appropriate Order is in place i.e. when considering revoking Care Orders or converting Care Orders to Special Guardianship Orders. There are also a small number of Family and Friends Foster Carers supervised in the team with the aim of securing Special Guardianship Orders for the children in their care.You will have a caseload of children who are Children Looked After, and you will need to have knowledge of the Children Looked After processes and procedures.You will have excellent assessment skills and the ability to engage with children and their families effectively, with a focus on wellbeing and safety of the child. You will be skilled in developing and sustaining effective multi-agency working and will collaborate with professionals of every discipline.You will be part of a highly supportive team environment and have access to comprehensive training and development opportunities.For the role, we ask that you have:
  • Diploma/Degree in Social Work or predecessor. Social Workers qualifying after 1 April 2016 are required to complete the Consolidation of Practice qualification within the first three years of practice.
  • Experience of Social Work with children and young people.
  • Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business purposes to travel throughout the borough to attend meetings.
