- Responsible for entering and maintaining all calves details
- Ensure all calves born at Genus sites are birth registered on BCMS & Agriwebb
- Work closely with the Health & Testing Co-ordinator on where animals are and what is needed before they enter a stud
- Tissue sampling calves
- Coordinate tissue sampling with livestock teams
- Ensure all Beef calves animals have a sample taken for genotyping
- Second sample taken for T15 genetic defects and wagyus need a sample sent for registration
- Organise a sample at Whenby Feed Efficiency to be taken for double verification
- Regular sample audits to ensure all required samples have been taken and if they have been missed organise for them to be taken and sent off
- Organise DNA samples that come from Denovo cooperator herds and send them off for the relevant testing
- When Denovo keeps are identified organise further tissue samples to be taken
- Create submission forms & send samples off including all relevant information for that animal.
- Package samples correctly in keeping with EU and US compliances for ABP shipping
- Send results and info to the PDV team
- Update relevant spreadsheets and systems with results.
- Rearing Unit & Embryo programme admin support
- Agriwebb - all movements on & off, all births, deaths, staff training to ensure all information needed is received & day to day on site use of agriwebb is maintained & accurate
- BCMS movements • Regular passport monitoring & audits
- Weekly vet list – vaccinations & health testing & practical support on vet days
- Ordering ear tags for calves including BVD tissue tags, eid tags, etc
- Updating any systems of spreadsheets as required by the vet team or rearing unit manager
- Assist in recording embryo information relevant to the calves and for feedback to the beef & dairy teams and other stakeholders
- Centre Associated Isolation (CAI)/Pre-Entry Quarantine (PEQ) & Bull Licences
- Co-ordinate with the Health & Movement Co-ordinator the movement of selected animals into CAI/PEQ
- Work with the Health & Movement Co-ordinator to organise B1ds (pre-entry quarantine testing) for both CAI at Ruthin & PEQ at Whenby
- Visits
- Co-ordinate & manage visits
- Have a good general knowledge of the business and in particular production and supply chain
- Present to internal & external customers

- Support the GN team with routine jobs such as feeding/bedding/treating youngstock and recipient heifers
- Perform daily tractor and machinery work (bedding, feeding, mucking out) and ensure the servicing and upkeep of machinery on site.
- Maintain a high level of hygiene and cleanliness including mucking out/washing livestock areas and equipment
- Assist with calving recipient heifers and caring for neonatal calves ensuring colostrum feeding protocols are followed giving the calves the best start.
- Carry out all site-specific vaccination and health testing protocols on all livestock on site
- Continually strive to improve animal health and welfare by discussing and implementing new ideas/protocols
- GCSEs or equivalent
- Full UK drivers licence
- Knowledge of the Industry
