I'm currently partnering with a leading, high-volume bakery operation in Nottingham that's on the lookout for a skilled and motivated Shift Engineer to join their team on a permanent night shift (4 on, 4 off).This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-moving food production environment where quality, reliability, and craftsmanship go hand in hand. If you love the smell of fresh bread and enjoy the challenge of keeping complex production lines running smoothly, this could be your perfect next step.What's the Role?As a Shift Engineer, you'll play a vital role in keeping the bakery running at full speed overnight. From reacting quickly to breakdowns, to executing preventative maintenance and supporting site-wide improvements, you'll be essential to ensuring the ovens keep baking and the production lines keep rolling.Your Night-to-Night Will Involve:
  • Rapidly responding to equipment faults and breakdowns to minimise disruption
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) with precision and pride
  • Supporting both high-care and low-care production areas - from mixers and conveyors to ovens and packaging lines
  • Getting involved in improvement and reliability projects to boost uptime and efficiency
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and Health & Safety standards
  • Collaborating with other teams, including Production, Technical and HSE, to maintain smooth operations
What We're Looking For:
  • A time-served engineer with 3+ years of experience post-apprenticeship
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding abilities
  • Experience working in food, FMCG, or similar fast-paced manufacturing environments (bakery experience is a huge bonus!)
  • Qualifications such as ONC / NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent
  • A calm, proactive approach and the ability to work independently on a night shift
