
Senior Finance Officer

- Provide financial and technical advice, support, and assistance to service and team managers.
- Prepare costings and financial information to support budget planning, service development, and resource management.
- Support revenue budget monitoring, ensuring effective budgetary control.
- Produce financial reports for management at various levels.
- Provide cover for the section and attend evening meetings as required.
- Proven finance experience within local authority, education, or similar setting.
- Strong knowledge of budget monitoring, financial reporting, and VAT processes.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of colleagues.
- Ability to deputise and take on leadership responsibilities when required.
- Flexible and adaptable, able to work to deadlines and cover peaks in workload.
- Experience of financial management and providing advice at senior level.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with Head Teachers, school staff, and council teams.
- Strong IT skills (financial systems, Excel, reporting tools).
- Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings if required.
- You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
