- Delivering a high standard of patient care, using advanced, autonomous clinical skills and a broad in-depth theoretical knowledge-base.
- Assessing, diagnosing and treating patients with both minor and complex needs, initiating referrals as appropriate and planning clinical care accordingly.
- Performing safe triage of patients when necessary via telephone or face to face.
- Prescribing medication (if qualified), appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with evidence-based practice and national and practice protocols, and within scope of practice.
- Providing information and advice on prescribed or over-the-counter medication on medication regimens, side-effects and interactions.
- Prioritising health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
- Supporting patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles, and apply principles of self-care where appropriate.
- Providing leadership, education and training to other healthcare professionals and staff.

- Current registration with the NMC.
- For the ANP role - the relevant master/degree qualifications or equivalent
- An independent prescriber qualification
- Previous experience of working in general practice.
- The ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and have sound clinical reasoning and decision making.
- Excellent communication skills.
- SystmOne are desirable.
