Civil Engineering Maintenance ¦ Environment AgencyAn exciting opportunity for an Assurance Coordinator to join our Engineering team working on a varied portfolio of civils, mechanical & electrical engineering works on framework contracts for mainly the Environment Agency & Canals & Rivers Trust.Business UnitA busy and fast paced business unit involved in a range of civil engineering works on behalf of various clients delivering engineering maintenance and infrastructure on a portfolio of civils, mechanical and electrical engineering projects for clients including Highways England and the Environment Agency on long term maintenance framework contract agreements.The RoleAs Assurance and Document Controller, you will act as the central point for managing Business Assurance and Document Control, ensuring compliance and supporting the efficient delivery of contract works across multiple frameworks - primarily with the Environment Agency (EA).
  • Support the Operations Team in delivering key business plan objectives.
  • Facilitate Lean and Quality initiatives across business and project levels.
  • Support, implement, and evaluate performance improvement projects.
  • Ensure initiatives are fit for purpose, cost-effective, and deliver measurable results.
  • Produce A3s, storyboards, and case studies to demonstrate benefits realisation.
  • Monitor and report on performance across:
  • EA AOMR – Environment Agency Asset Operation, Maintenance, and Response
  • EA MEICA – Environment Agency Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, and Automation
  • CRT – Canal & River Trust
  • Other client-led Key Performance Indicator (KPI) frameworks
  • Capture and analyse performance data to support assurance processes.
  • Provide audit evidence and develop performance improvement action plans.
  • Facilitate improvement projects, workshops, and collaborative planning sessions.
  • Conduct audits.
  • Promote a Right First Time, Every Time culture through coaching and behavioural support.
  • Liaise with client-side improvement teams and foster open communication across project teams.
  • Manage the formal document control process for all client submissions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Provide guidance and support to direct reports (e.g., Performance Advisers).
  • Engage with internal stakeholders and external partners including clients, suppliers, and regulators.
RequirementsEssential:
  • A full UK driving licence (able to attend customer offices).
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of the role.
  • Quick learner with a proactive mindset.
  • IT literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
  • No prior industry experience required – training and support will be provided.
Advantageous:
  • Degree-level education.
  • Experience in administration, document control, or office management.
  • Exposure to Lean principles or business improvement methodologies.
  • Experience in civil engineering, construction or infrastructure sectors is advantageous.
  • Internal or external auditor experience.
