About the roleAs a Public Liaison Officer, you'll play a vital role in connecting our project teams with the public. You'll ensure that residents, businesses, and stakeholders are well-informed, heard, and supported throughout the lifecycle of our works.You'll be part of our Communications and Stakeholder Teams, helping to manage public enquiries, coordinate engagement events, and promote the positive impact of our work.What you'll be doing
  • Support project managers and communications teams with public engagement activities.
  • Build strong relationships with local communities and maintain open communication channels.
  • Handle public enquiries professionally and sensitively, ensuring compliance with engagement processes.
  • Organise and host drop-in sessions and local events to share project updates.
  • Deliver PIP letters and conduct site visits to stay connected with on-the-ground teams.
  • Identify trends in public feedback to improve future engagement.
  • Provide regular updates and visuals to help create positive news stories.
Who we're looking for
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to translate technical information into clear, accessible language.
  • Calm, approachable, and compassionate-especially when dealing with sensitive issues.
  • Able to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Team player with a proactive attitude.
Desirable:
  • Experience in stakeholder management during construction projects.
  • Understanding of construction programmes and highways maintenance.
  • CSCS card holder.
  • Experience attending local authority meetings.
  • Ability to analyse data and spot trends.
