Operating Monday-Friday working hours 07.00-19.30 hrs and we are looking to recruit a Registered Nurse.The Medical Day Unit is within the division of Specialty Services and Surgery. The Unit is laid out with 11 spaces. Three trolley beds and 8 reclining chairs in a treatment bay. The Unit provides care for a variety of patients from Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, Renal, Clinical Sciences, Neurology, Endocrinology, Dermatology Respiratory, Hepatology and supports Research and Development.The Unit provides therapeutic and maintenance care for patients who are planned to attend for a variety of procedures including blood tests, diagnostic investigations, blood transfusion, infusions, including biologic infusion, biopsy, drains and breath tests.Main duties of the jobTo provide the highest standard of compassionate evidenced based nursing care.To meet, greet, electronically record, plan, assess, implement, and evaluate programmes of care for individual patients and to supervise other staff in this activity.To complete discharge summary at end of treatmentTo act as an advocate for the patient and family, providing them with information and support and directing them to the relevant support services where appropriate.To develop and maintain clinical skills of cannulation within one month of employment.To develop and maintain knowledge necessary to provide holistic, evidence-based nursing care. This includes expanded role responsibilities as a link nurse.Administer intravenous medication to the level of competence as defined in PDP.To ensure clinical practice is evidence based or peer reviewed "best practice".To supervise and support members of the Unit team including learners and ensure that all patients receive appropriate timely safe care.To deputise in the absence of the Unit ManagerTo demonstrate a professional approach to work, and act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct always.To have knowledge of and adhere to Unit and Trust policy and professional standards.
