As a DNS Engineer, you'll help run and improve the DNS services that power critical UK infrastructure and government systems. You'll contribute to service improvements, help design secure, high-performance solutions, and respond quickly to operational issues.It's a great opportunity for someone who wants to make a real impact, be part of a small, expert team, and work on one of the most fundamental technologies behind the internet.What You'll Be DoingSupporting and maintaining Nominet's DNS infrastructure to ensure services remain secure, reliable, and high-performingAnalysing business and technical requirements to design and deliver improvements and new servicesWorking with other internal teams and external partners to implement and maintain DNS solutionsActing as an escalation point for operational issues, including participating in the on-call rotaProactively identifying opportunities to automate processes and improve monitoring and measurementResponding to incidents and contributing to incident reviews and service improvementsAbout YouEssential:Experience with DNS and DNSSEC operationsLinux skills and experience with at least one DNS software (e.g. BIND, NSD, Unbound, PowerDNS)Familiarity with Python or a similar scripting languageAble to design and document technical solutions to meet business requirementsComfortable communicating clearly with technical and non-technical audiencesExperience supporting live production services and responding to incidentsNice to have:Experience with Ansible or other automation/configuration toolsFamiliarity with modern devops practices, Kubernetes, containerisation and CI/CD pipelines.Understanding of internet networking, Anycast, and security risks relevant to service providersWhat to expect next:
