This role defines, upholds and communicates the Technology Strategy and direction to support the Group’s vision and strategic intent, with a clear focus on the capabilities needed to ensure long term success aligning out Technology agenda with the Group’s Strategy.​This opportunity is for a Lead Architect role aligned to the Risk Platforms who are undergoing a multi-million pound-multi-year investment looking to revolutionise the group Credit, Prudential, Environmental and Operational Risk processes, utilising pioneering Data & Technical capabilities.​The candidate will combine business (corporate governance, business control, developing business solutions, design skills), technical (Public and Private Cloud, APIs, Traditional hosting, event driven architectures etc), architectural (feasibility assessments, roadmaps etc) and personal skills (agile & digital mindset, strong communication, leadership skills and embodiment of values) to support the Platform from an architectural perspective. ​Overall, this role proposes the strategic direction of architecture and drives the change management for Risk. Expert specialist skills and knowledge are required to act as a trusted advisor and internal consultant to the Technology and Business Platform Leads.Job DescriptionJOB TITLE: Lead Architect – RiskSALARY: £106,400 - £124,653LOCATIONS: Manchester, Edinburgh, Leeds, HalifaxHOURS: Full timeWORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in the officeAbout this opportunityThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Lead Architect for our Group Risk Function as part of the Chief Technology Office (CTO).In this pivotal role, you’ll define, uphold, and communicate the Technology Strategy to support the Group’s vision and strategic goals. With a clear focus on the capabilities needed for long-term success, you’ll align our Technology agenda with the Group’s overarching strategy.This opportunity is specifically aligned to the Group’s Risk Function, who is the central and independent Risk Function for LBG. An integral part of the Group's three lines of defence (3LoD) and its role is to protect the Group and our customers.We’re looking for a candidate who can combine a mix of business acumen, technical prowess, architectural expertise, and personal skills to support our platform from an architectural perspective.Here’s where you’ll make a difference –

  • Demonstrable years experience as a Lead Architect role, having successfully set the architecture vision and strategy within financial services, is essential
  • Breadth of experience in architecture, in a regulated industry including an understanding of relevant FCA/PRA regulatory requirements in relation to financial services'
  • Gravitas and impact to operate at a director level. You’ll use strong storytelling skills, both written and verbally, in how you present your communication recommendations in line with priorities.
  • Experience in business skills such as corporate governance, business control, solution development, and design
  • Technology Risk experience and technical knowledge of Public/Private Cloud, APIs, traditional hosting, and event-driven architectures
  • Architectural expertise, including feasibility assessments and road-mapping
  • Personal strengths: agile mindset, digital approach, strong communication, leadership, and alignment with company values
  • Support for Platform architecture
