We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Lewes name, a category B/C Prison located in Sussex.HMP Lewes is a male prison that has a capacity for 742 inmates and are recruiting for a Pharmacy Assistant to support with duties such as Labelling, stock taking, checking, collections etc.Hours0730 - 16304 days a week / no weekendsSalaryThis position is Part Time, you'll receive an annual salary up to £28,690 per annum FTE - depending on experience.How will we support you?

What you'll be doingAs a Pharmacy Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. You will
  • Complete general dispensary duties and stock management
  • Be working as an active member of the Pharmaceutical team to ensure delivery of the pharmaceutical service
  • Provide a timely and efficient service to the prison wings
  • Receive prescriptions and stick returns from wing based clinical areas
  • Collect orders from suppliers from the Main Gate and arrange collection of return
  • Participate in dispensing of prescriptions.

  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills/equivalent or working towards
  • Medicines handing experience desirable not essential
  • Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent
  • A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good IT skills and IT literacy
  • Ability to work within a busy environment
  • Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures

Prior to joining Practice Plus Group I spent almost 10 years working in community, but I have found that the prison environment is where I feel I can utilise my skills and truly make a difference. I see patients with complex health issues, I help keep them informed about their medication and support out-patients in managing their conditions day to day.
