Learning Support Assistant
Location: Stockton-on-Tees, UK
Salary: £425- £500 a week
Start Date: September 2025About the Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our supportive team in Stockton-on-Tees. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students, particularly those with additional learning needs, helping them succeed both academically and personally.Key Responsibilities:
  • Support Learning and Development: Work closely with teachers to provide tailored academic support to students, ensuring they can access the curriculum and engage with their learning.
  • Assist in Differentiated Teaching: Help adapt teaching materials and resources for students with a range of learning needs, enabling them to fully participate in lessons.
  • Provide Pastoral Support: Offer emotional and social support to students, helping to build their confidence, resilience, and well-being.
  • Promote Independent Learning: Encourage students to take responsibility for their learning by fostering a growth mindset and helping them develop independent study skills.
  • Support in Behaviour Management: Assist with the implementation of behavioural strategies to help students stay focused, respectful, and engaged in the classroom.
  • Provide Exam and Test Support: Support students in preparation for exams and assessments, ensuring that they understand expectations and feel confident in their abilities.
  • Support Social Integration: Help students integrate socially within the school environment by promoting positive relationships with peers and supporting group activities.
  • Collaboration with External Agencies: Work closely with outside agencies, such as educational psychologists or speech and language therapists, to provide the best support for students with specific needs.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • A strong desire to support students in their educational journey, especially those with additional learning needs.
  • Experience working with young people, ideally in a school or educational setting (desirable).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting student development.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adjust to the needs of individual students.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths are essential. A Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3) would be an advantage.
  • A willingness to engage in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
