Role: General Manager - Fire and SecurityLocation: Devon and CornwallSalary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annumTechnical Resources are recruiting for a General Manager to take full ownership of a Plymouth-based installation and service departments, overseeing project delivery, service operations, and team performance across Devon and Cornwall. This role blends hands-on operational management with strategic leadership, ensuring exceptional results for both the business and clients.Responsibilities:
  • Act as the main point of contact for major clients, maintaining high satisfaction and resolving key issues
  • Oversee installation project planning and delivery to meet deadlines, budgets, and quality targets
  • Allocate resources across personnel, equipment, and materials for maximum efficiency
  • Lead and support the fire and security service and maintenance teams in achieving daily and strategic goals
  • Collaborate with department heads, stakeholders, and clients to align operations with company objectives
  • Work with procurement to ensure timely and cost-effective material acquisition
  • Implement best practice and continuous improvement initiatives across the department
  • Evaluate and refine project management processes to boost efficiency
  • Manage invoicing, budgets, and cost control for installation works
  • Direct engineer allocation to meet client schedules and project demands
  • Analyse KPIs, service delivery, and customer feedback to drive improvement
  • Conduct performance reviews and mentor service and installation teams
  • Optimise project scheduling and ensure timelines are accurate
  • Provide progress reports to senior leadership, highlighting achievements and challenges
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal quality standards
  • Lead regular project planning meetings to forecast resources and capacity
  • Promote and enforce Health & Safety policies, including RAMS, PPE, toolbox talks, and training requirements
Experience and Certifications Required:
  • Proven leadership experience within the fire and security or related technical service sectors
  • Track record in managing both installation projects and service teams
  • Strong project management, people leadership, and resource planning skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Analytical and detail-oriented approach to performance, budgeting, and process improvement
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Devon and Cornwall
