A well-respected secondary school in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear is currently seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their exceptional team. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of £105 to £130 per day, depending on experience and qualifications.As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, helping them to overcome barriers and achieve their full potential. Working closely with teachers and other support staff, you will contribute to the creation of a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional growth.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs, such as autism, ADHD, or specific learning difficulties
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs) to address students' unique learning requirements
  • Adapt and differentiate learning materials to ensure accessibility and engagement for all learners
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents
  • Encourage students to develop their independence, self-esteem, and social skills through positive reinforcement and targeted interventions
  • Collaborate with teachers to maintain a safe and stimulating classroom environment that fosters a love for learning
Do you have:
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent experience in a similar role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to working with students of varying abilities and backgrounds
  • Knowledge of special educational needs and evidence-based support strategies
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and assistive devices
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
