If you are passionate about creating sustainable and intelligent transport solutions, we want you on our team.We are recruiting for a Senior Planner to join our Rail Infrastructure business and will be based at one of our Mobility locations. Within this senior role of our planning department, you will lead the project planning and control function on either a major project or be accountable for a number of smaller projects. There is an expectation to support the overall business planning requirements through effective resourcing; utilising your experience and expertise to support improvement activities, ensuring best practices are identified and implemented.As a Senior Planner you will act as a mentor, coaching junior planners within the team and work together to promote and improve planning and controls within the organisation. You will also work closely with our Bids & Tendering team to make sure tender plans are developed through the mobilisation process and into contract plans.You'll make a difference by
  • Providing planning leadership for all projects under your control
  • Actively being the technical planning expert ensuring consistent application of standards and procedures including templates, guidance and support to your programme/project team
  • Performing critical path analysis; providing possible actions and areas for concern
  • Working closely with project, commercial and finance managers and wider members of the project team; ensuring project schedules are accurately developed, maintained, resource and cost loaded
  • Building and maintaining close working relationships with client representatives; work collaboratively to identify efficient and effective planning and controls solutions
  • Making sure the periodic project reporting requirements are met for both internal and the client through the provision of KPI, EV, schedule delay and critical path analysis reports as needed
Your success will be grounded by
  • Degree/HND/HNC level qualifications or relative demonstrable experience
  • Proven experience of planning major infrastructure projects preferably in the rail industry
  • Technical planning expert to advanced Primavera level with experience of other planning tools such as MS Project
  • Experience of working closely with senior management both internally/externally and in the client organisation
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills as well as a strong assertive style of behaviour
  • Working knowledge and experience of project management methodologies i.e Prince 2 (desirable)
  • Leading a planning team to deliver major infrastructure projects (desirable)
