- Brief writing: draft clear, value-driven briefs for technical solutions.
- Plan development: contribute to infiltration reduction plans and Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans (DWMPs).
- Analytical thinking: crucial for hydraulic modelling, infiltration analysis, and investment planning.
- Communication skills: influential verbal and written skills needed for stakeholder engagement and reporting.
- Cross-functional collaboration: the ability to work across Delivery, Operations, Development, and external agencies.
- Decision-making: firm, consistent choices required during project reviews and technical adjudication.
- Project management: juggling multiple schemes and programmes simultaneously.
- Customer engagement: liaising with residents, councils, and public forums to explain plans and risks.
- A degree: must be in a relevant field (not strictly engineering), showing flexibility in academic background.
- Sewerage system design: understanding of layout, capacity, and compliance.
- Hydraulic modelling: familiarity with tools like InfoWorks or similar.
- Geospatial tools: GIS platforms for mapping and visualisation (eg, ArcGIS or QGIS).
- Office software: proficiency in Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word for data analysis and reporting.
- Initiative and independence: the ability to self-direct with minimal supervision.
- Relationship building: strong interpersonal skills to foster trust across teams and with external bodies.
- Public-facing confidence: comfortable presenting to parish councils and engaging with residents.
