- Ensure that pupils are properly safeguarded and understand how to make a referral to the schools Designated Safeguarding Officer
- Deliver high quality teaching and learning to children and young people with Asperger's Syndrome, Specific Learning Difficulties and Complex Needs, and who may present with some challenging behaviours.
- Be responsible for the high quality of teaching and learning of all pupils who are assigned to the post holder, having responsibility for their progress, welfare and outcomes.
- Supervise the work of any support staff who are assigned to work with the post holder's pupils.
- To take responsibility for implementing school policies and practice, including those relating to safeguarding and equality of opportunity.
- Working knowledge of students with complex needs and SEND - understanding and experience of autism and associated co-morbid conditions and how these can affect learning
- Evidence of sound knowledge of the national curriculum - Curriculum development and implementation for pupils with SEND
- To have an up to date knowledge and understanding of the professional duties of teachers and the statutory framework within which teachers work
- Strong knowledge of the most up to date safeguarding matters and guidance.
- Experience of partnering with students and their families and/or further education providers, focusing on transitions is desirable
