This University Hospital is seeking a dedicated and forward-thinking Consultant Haematologist to join our expanding team. This is a 10 PA post with opportunities to develop a specialist interest in acute leukaemia, myeloid disorders, and haematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The successful candidate will join a dynamic department delivering high-quality care and contributing to teaching, research, and service development.Requirements
- Full registration and licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC)
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Haematology (or within 6 months of interview)
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications and Fellowship of a Royal College (e.g., FRCPath)
- Experience in managing both malignant and non-malignant haematological conditions
- Commitment to teamwork, clinical excellence, and continuous improvement
A standard job plan includes:
- Direct clinical care including outpatient clinics, inpatient ward rounds, and multidisciplinary team meetings
- Development of a subspecialty interest in areas such as acute leukaemia, myeloid malignancies, or stem cell transplantation
- Participation in the on-call rota for haematology emergencies
- Contribution to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
- Involvement in clinical governance, audit, and service development
- Opportunities to engage in research and clinical trials
- A team of 11 consultant haematologists, supported by 5 specialty registrars, 1 academic clinical fellow, and junior doctors
- Provides Level 3 Haematology care and autologous stem cell transplantation through a JACIE-accredited service
- Outpatient services are delivered in a dedicated unit
- Inpatients are managed on a joint Oncology & Haematology ward
- Children with blood disorders are cared for at the nearby children’s hospital
- The department is active in clinical trials, basic science research, and undergraduate teaching at the local Medical School
