We are looking for a reliable and motivated Kitchen Support Assistant to join our specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Coventry. This full-time role is essential to ensuring the provision of healthy, nutritious meals that support student wellbeing and learning. You will work closely with the catering team to maintain high standards of food preparation, hygiene, and kitchen organisation.Key Duties
- Food Preparation: Assist with preparing ingredients, simple meals, and snacks under the guidance of the school cook.
- Serving Meals: Help serve food to pupils and staff in a friendly, efficient manner.
- Kitchen Hygiene: Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas, following food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Health & Safety: Adhere to school policies and food safety standards, including allergen management and COSHH regulations.
- Stock & Equipment: Assist with receiving deliveries, checking stock, and ensuring kitchen equipment is clean and ready to use.
- Teamwork: Work collaboratively with catering and site staff to provide a safe, supportive environment for pupils with SEMH needs.

- Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, or food service role (preferred but not essential)
- Knowledge of basic food hygiene and safety practices

- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- Food Hygiene Level 2 (or willingness to complete training)
- Experience working in a school or SEMH/SEN environment
- Flexibility to work occasional extra hours if required
- Valid photo ID (Driving Licence or Passport)
- Recent work-based references
