Financial Accountant | Southend on Sea, EssexSolopress is looking for a technically strong and commercially aware Financial Accountant to join our friendly and hardworking finance team.Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this pivotal role will ensure accurate financial reporting, IFRS compliance, and strong internal controls. The role will also include close collaboration with our German group company, supporting intercompany alignment and group-level reporting.Role Responsibilities
  • Assisting with the preparation and review of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS
  • Maintain internal controls and ensure adherence to financial policies and best practices
  • Coordinate with finance teams at the German group company to align accounting processes, intercompany reconciliations, and group reporting standards
  • Support monthly management accounts, budgeting, and variance analysis
  • Prepare year-end audit files and act as liaison with external auditors
  • Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the integrity of financial data
  • Support tax compliance, including VAT and corporation tax, in collaboration with advisors
  • Recommend and drive improvements in reporting systems, automation, and group integration
  • Assist with ad hoc finance projects and group-level initiatives
Role Requirements
  • Qualified or nearly qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA accountant. QBE considered
  • 2–3+ years of experience in financial accounting or audit
  • Good technical knowledge of IFRS
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical capability
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and internationally
  • Strong Excel and financial systems knowledge
  • Clear communication skills and a proactive mindset
  • Experience working in manufacturing, logistics, or e-commerce sectors is desirable
  • Previous experience with intercompany reporting and consolidations desirable
