This job is grade Hay 15.Based at our Capenhurst site, the electrical distribution team is responsible for ensuring that electrical distribution related equipment is maintained and operated to ensure safety and statutory compliance. The team strives toward a culture of continuous improvement whilst operating in an environment that complies with all health, safety, security and regulatory requirements.The role of the Electrical Distribution Engineer is to control, perform and supervise maintenance work on the site electrical distribution network and its ancillary components (inclusive of repair, switching and modification), whilst providing technical support and monitoring progress against agreed maintenance plans. They will develop supplier relationships and build business cases to support change, whilst offering the operational and maintenance support to business. They will have operational responsibilities to ensure that all equipment is operated and worked on in accordance with UUK Electrical Safety Rules. They will also be responsible for any engineering improvement opportunities and asset management of the equipment operated and maintained by the team.What you’ll do:
  • Support the maintenance technicians to ensure the progress of maintenance is in line with the agreed maintenance plan
  • Manage and supervise the maintenance work to ensure it is completed in accordance with UUK’s company instructions and contract key performance indicators
  • Regularly reviews and updates technical documentation (e.g. working instructions, drawings etc)
  • Undertake the duties of the Authorised Person (Electrical) when the department workload demands and set people to work on electrical distribution systems
  • · Analyses and trends the maintenance reports, system health and system performance
What do you need to thrive in this role?
  • · Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • · Membership of IET or equivalent
  • · HV Operational qualification (City & Guilds)
  • · Experience of maintenance in a complex technical environment
  • · Experience in structured fault finding, problem solving and root cause analysis
  • · Experience of leading minor capital projects from conception and application of funding to execution and commissioning
