Security: DBS Check RequiredOverviewAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Assistant Principal Design Engineer to join a dynamic aerospace engineering team on a one-year fixed-term basis. The successful candidate will lead conceptual design studies and provide practical solutions to complex design problems related to landing gear systems. This role includes technical leadership, mentoring, and interfacing with multidisciplinary teams.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and support design activities to ensure high technical standardsAct as a technical focal point for internal and external stakeholdersPropose and implement efficient, pragmatic design solutionsCoach and mentor engineers on both theoretical and practical design practicesReview and approve technical deliverablesDrive the use and development of innovative design methods and toolsParticipate in technical audits and design reviewsEnsure compliance with applicable industry standards and qualification requirementsRequirementsHNC/HND minimum, ideally BSc/MSc in Engineering or related disciplinePrevious experience in the aerospace sectorSkilled in recognised design software tools, preferably CATIASolid understanding of engineering analysis, materials, and manufacturing processesExperience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is desirableDemonstrated leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skillsEffective communication and stakeholder management capabilities
