You’ll sit alongside a passionate and talented multi-disciplinary experience design team, made up of user researchers, product designers, content designers and design operations, who are focused on creating the best digital experiences for customers in the UK.As product design lead in the experience design team, your primary focus is to shape and expand our design system, ‘Anatomy’, that supports and enhances our digital products and services. You’ll work alongside a design system product owner and dedicated design system designers & developers to continuously improve component libraries, contribution models, documentation & guidelines and build advocacy across the organisation.A key member of our design leadership team you will lead a group of Product Designers and provide mentorship and support to facilitate development, encourage growth and foster a culture of care and candour.What will you be doing?
We’re looking for a Lead User Researcher to lead and develop the user research discipline for a leading healthcare provider. As the team is relatively new, you’ll be able to really contribute to the research function and help to build it out. Part of your role will be to lead and coach a team of user researchers who work in a multi-disciplinary experience design team. You will also lead high profile projects and briefs as an expert practitioner. You will help mature user research and embed user research, helping support user centricity. You will lead the team in all aspects of user research and definition of best practice.About you
As a lead user researcher, you are an expert practitioner, you will plan, design, and lead research activities with users that help teams get a deep understanding of the people that use their products and services. You’ll help align user research activities across several teams, ensuring that teams take a user-centred approach and assure good user research practice.You’ll also help others create research activities in larger teams and on more complex projects. This research will help to inform proposition, service, content, and interaction design so that our products and services meet the needs of our users.At this level you will:
  • Work closely with service managers, programme directors and senior stakeholders to resource teams, resolve problems and develop future projects.
  • Promote the user research discipline, engage with the wider design community, and keep up to date with industry changes.
  • Will be assigned to high-profile briefs and projects and will help team understand how to embed user research throughout their product lifecycle.
  • You should be able to build user-centred practices in new teams, align user research activities with wider plans to help develop propositions and you should be able to supervise and develop other user researchers in the team to assure and improve our user research practice.
  • You’ll have experience of user centred design practices, and a solid research process that involves customers and stakeholders throughout and will be able to show us some of this in the interview.

You understand and have experience of a range of user-centred practices. You can help inexperienced teams adopt user-centred practices and embed them into their agile workflow. You can advocate for user research and engage sceptical colleagues and stakeholders.Benefits
