We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.We are advertising for a Senior Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join the Acute Psychology Service to provide a comprehensive service to the Complex Mesh Surgical Service which is a National Specialist Service, hosted in NHS GGC.The post holder will
  • provide a specialised clinical/counselling psychology service to clients of the Complex Mesh Surgical Service; as part the multidisciplinary team providing expert care to women experiencing complications from previous mesh insertion for urinary incontinence or vaginal prolapse.
  • liaise with clinical services in other health boards regarding previous treatment and post discharge management of patients in the Service.
  • utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service and provide clinical and professional supervision to trainees undertaking Doctoral training.
  • undertake service development which will have an impact beyond own area of practice
  • provide specialist advice to other health care staff, patients, carers and other agencies.
  • be managed within the Acute Psychology Service, which comprises a large group of psychologists working across a range of clinical health and neuropsychology services. This provides the post holder with a supportive Psychology collegiate.
This post will be based in The New Victoria Hospital but please note that as you will be an integrated member of the Complex Mesh Surgical Services' MDT you will work across acute areasYou should demonstrate advanced theoretical and practical knowledge as a Clinical/counselling Psychologist which has been obtained through post-graduate doctoral level training (or equivalent) in Clinical/counselling Psychology as accredited by BPS or HCPC including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan development psychology. In addition to this, you should be HCPC registered as a Practitioner Psychologist. The hours for this post are worked between Monday and Friday, 9am-5pm.
