Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Part-time / Full-timeAre you a patient, resilient, and compassionate individual passionate about supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs?GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in the Snalth (DN14 6) area. This role of SEMH TA provides a fantastic opportunity to work closely with pupils who require additional support to engage positively in their education and develop essential social and emotional skills.As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in implementing individualised behaviour and learning plans.
  • Build trusting relationships to encourage pupils’ engagement and confidence.
  • Support teachers in maintaining a calm, inclusive, and positive classroom environment.
  • Help pupils develop resilience, emotional regulation, and positive social skills.
  • Ensure safeguarding and welfare standards are maintained at all times.
Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication, empathy, and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A full CV covering the last 10 years of employment history, with any gaps explained.
