About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer to deliver high-quality safety cases and provide technical support across major nuclear projects.You’ll play a key role in authoring and reviewing safety documentation, supporting hazard assessments, and ensuring projects meet regulatory and safety requirements. Opportunities exist to work on a range of UK projects across new build, decommissioning, and operational support.The key responsibilities for this Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer role are:
  • Author and review nuclear safety case documentation
  • Conduct radiological and hazard assessments to support ALARP demonstrations
  • Facilitate hazard identification and optioneering workshops
  • Provide technical input to plant modifications, design substantiation, and commissioning strategies
  • Collaborate with project teams and support client-facing activities
  • Contribute to proposals and business development activities as required
  • Support junior team members and knowledge transfer within the team
Experience and skills required for this Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer role are:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in nuclear engineering or nuclear safety
  • Proven experience authoring and reviewing nuclear safety case documentation
  • Experience in radiological assessments and/or hazard analysis reports
  • Knowledge of UK nuclear regulations and standards (ONR, EA, IAEA)
  • Degree-qualified in engineering, physics, or related discipline
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong organisational ability and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Eligibility to obtain UK security clearance (BPSS minimum)
  • Chartership desirable (or working towards)
  • Knowledge of chemotoxic and/or environmental assessments is a plus
