We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated band 2 Therapy Support Worker to join our Inpatient Surgical team at The Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust.The role is based at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.Main duties of the jobThe post holder will work with Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and other support staff on the Inpatient Surgical wards. These patients may have undergone abdominal surgery or amputations. The caseload may also include patients that have just left Critical Care.The role includes direct contact with patients to establish how they coped at home prior to admission to hospital. After patients have been assessed by qualified therapists the therapy support worker will be involved in mobilising patients, carrying out functional tasks such as self care, kitchen activities and issuing and ordering equipment for patients. The post holder may also be involved with accompanying qualified therapists on home visits, to assess patients in their home environments.The post holder needs to be flexible, have good time management skills, confident IT skills and work well in a team as well as independently.We offer a weekend service, working one weekend day every 4 - 6 weeks and the post holder would be a part of this rota.About usWe are a welcoming and supportive team and work in a fast paced environment.
