To do this; we need like-minded people who want to work with us to deliver the very best care to our patients.Following the opening of the elective surgical hub at Solihull Hospital, the elective general surgery team is an exciting place to work. The role is full-time at Solihull Hospital covering a 7 day service. The service covers extended hours between 08:00am to 20:00pm creating the opportunity to treat patients sooner after their surgery.You will work collaboratively with Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists and fellow therapy support workers across inpatient and outpatient settings supporting our patients in their rehabilitation and wellbeing.You'll have excellent communication and organisational skills and be confident to make judgements unaided. You will be able to work proactively to problem solve and work on your own initiativeMain duties of the jobYou will be working alongside qualified therapists to assess and treat patients following a variety of different general elective surgeries. You also be involved in delivering pre-operative education and exercises classes in the form of prehabilitation. If successfully appointed, you will be involved in the launch of the prehabilitation service. In addition, you will be expected to work flexibly across other Solihull teams to support flow across the site.Please note that this post will be working with patients who are recovering from surgery and as such are likely to involve working in acute surgical settings and also supporting patients with personal care.You will also be involved in supporting qualified therapists with a range of different administrative tasks including booking patient appointments, liaising with patients and relatives on the phone and assisting with data collection.Your responsibilities will be varied and challenging -- however, being able to multitask in an efficient manner whilst maintaining a caring and helpful attitude underpins everything we do to make a difference to your team and the patients.We are looking for an individual who will help ensure we are continually adhering to our Trust values of Kind Connected and Bold.About usUniversity Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust strives to have an inclusive culture where everyone feels like they belong, can thrive, knows that they add value and feels valued.
