Would you like to work in a rural practice in the beautiful towns of Bakewell and Tideswell?We are easily accessible from larger areas of Chesterfield, Sheffield and BuxtonWe are looking for someone to manage our dispensaries, over both sites. We dispense to approximately 3600 patients.Would you enjoy working in a team of supportive dispensers and supporting development? Then this is the job for youMain duties of the jobWe are looking for someone with at least a level 2 dispensing qualification, that ideally has some dispensary knowledge.The role will encompass dispensing medications, supporting the dispensers, liaising with suppliers to get the best deals, having a financial oversight of claims alongside the practice manager. More details in the attached job description.About usWe have 8500 patients and are based at 2 sites, Bakewell and Tideswell. Both sites have a dispensary. The dispensary are staffed by a lovely team of supportive dispensers. The practice is led by 2 GP partners. There is a practice director (practice manager), a reception manager and operations managers. We have a supportive administration team. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:a. To be responsible for planning and allocating work for all dispensary staffb. To oversee all dispensing matters within the practice, checking colleagues dispensing as requiredc. To dispense prescriptions for patientsd. To collect prescription charges from patients, cash up and balance monies receivede. To manage the monies at the end of the month, aligning to reimbursementsf. To cross reference number and value of prescription charges against statements, ensuring accuracyg. To effectively coordinate the requests for repeat prescriptionsh. To ensure requests for repeat prescriptions are processed within a set timeframei. To manage the return of medicines from patientsj. To deal with uncollected medication in accordance with current policyk. To effectively manage stock levels within the dispensary, ensuring adequate levels are held, minimising wastage and expenditurel. To promote a safe and effective working environment, conforming to legislation, ensuring drugs are stored appropriately, within temperature parameters and securelym. To effectively manage the cold chain process, ensuring all staff are aware of the requirement to accurately record temperatures and store items appropriatelyn. To conduct stock-takes in accordance with guidanceo. To assess invoices for payment and identifying VAT for Personally Administered drugs, liaising with the Practice Manager as requiredp. To assist with QOF and IIF targetsq. To be responsible for the effective line management, appraisal and development of dispensary staffr. To work with a supervisor to take responsibility for developing their own clinical competence, leadership and reflective practice skills within the workplaces. To support patient discharge medications with an appropriate staff member.t. To create a robust process for personally administered drugs, ensuring all products are claimed for.u. Liaise with suppliers and ensure we are signed up for discount schemes.Secondary responsibilitiesIn addition to the primary responsibilities, the dispensary manager may be requested to:a. Deputise for the Dispensary/Practice Lead in their absenceb. Partake in audits as directed by the audit leadc. Provide mentorship and guidance for trainee dispensary staff and studentsd.
